Angeldust
We thought that this film opening was really well made. It set quite an eerie genre, from the music and the dark lighting, so the audience would know what type of atmosphere to expect from the rest of the film.
The editing was really well done. The way it was made to look like a social networking site was really effective. Also the way the video appeared out of different parts of the site, to then fill the screen, was a good technique.
The music was subtle, but that was good at setting the eerie tone. The use of dialogue throughout enabled the audience to get a sense of the girls character and also get some information on what was happening.
Maybe different camera angles could have been used, but since it was supposed to be a vlog situation, where she is filming on a webcam, it suited the narrative.
The mise used was good at setting the scene. We only see the girl, a mysterious man and computers, which sets it up for what is presumably a story about her become a victim of something from the guy on the internet.
the titles were nicely integrated in to all the text that appeared on screen. They use a good font which was suitable for the genre. They started with their institutional logo and ended with the film title, which is the right way to start and finish film titles.
We thought it was overall a great opening, which created a good atmosphere and was very well edited.
However, it could have incorporated some different camera angles and all the information given in such a short time made it seem a bit more like a short film that just an opening.
